I haven’t been living in Florida for very long. My family and I moved here in December of 2020, right at the tail end of the most intense months of the pandemic. I had never really pictured myself living in Florida, but it hadn’t been a huge jump from Louisiana, so I found myself content… besides missing the food I was used to back in my home state. Little did I know we were amongst the influx of people that came pouring into the Sunshine State over the past four years.

When I first moved to St Augustine, some of the first things I heard was how much the small city had changed from even just ten years before. St Augustine had been on the rise for some time, and it only continues to be built upon by land developers who are observant of the trend. As someone who had lived in the state for a little under five years, I find myself sick at the thought of the green landscape slowly disappearing to make room for parking structures, gas stations, condos, luxury homes and hotels. Just as long as I’ve been here, I have seen those specific types of projects popping up in the city as well as along the outskirts down US 1 and SR-16.

This is why I’m here writing this blog.

No, I do not believe that my posts here will change the minds of developers or prospective tenants, but I do hope to spread some knowledge to anyone who might come across my pages. Additionally, maybe I can connect with the hearts and minds of Florida residents to be a place where they can know that their concerns are valid.
